St Mary’s Church

St Mary’s church in Aldworth dates back in part to around 1200. The Yew tree in the churchyard is at least 1000 years old and though it has been struck by lightning and blown over in a storm it is still partly alive.

Here is what it used to look like – 4 ft from the ground it measured 9 yards round and was used to make bows and arrows:

Services at St Mary’s

The First Sunday is Holy Communion at 8.00am
The Second and Fourth Sunday – Evening Prayer at 6.00pm
These three services are from the Book of Common Prayer

The third Sunday is:
ABC! – Aldworth Breakfast Church at 9.30 am
Come and enjoy tasty bacon rolls & delicious croissants, fruit & cereals, freshly made coffee and tea, followed by a short service.

St Mary’s serves the village of Aldworth and is part of the group of Basildon, Aldworth and Ashampstead. As well as the regular services it is available for Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals for those with local connections. We also arrange occasional concerts and other events.
